General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The hard lump on the ankle with pain upon walking indicates most likely soft tissue lesion. There can be Bunion formation which is overlying the bursa of the ankle joint. Sometimes, osteoma also presents with benign over growth of the bone and hard lump over the ankle. In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, I do recommend an X-ray of the ankle joint with or without an MRI depending upon the clinical expertise as well as results of the X-ray.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
