What Causes A Hard Lump On The Calf Post Injury?

My boyfriend had a rollover accident today. There appear to be broken bones as he is fully mobile but he is complaining of leg pain. On the front of his calf there is a hard knot, it is swollen and red. What can this be? He does not want to go to the hospital and I m worried.

1. As history of accident is there thus severe bruising can result in haematoma [hard lump], as such it will heal on its own but treatment may help heal haematoma faster.

2. application of cold pack within 24 hours can decrease the amount of bleeding and applying heat thereafter helps body absorb old blood quicker and giving acetaminophen helps in reducing pain.

PS. only head injury with resultant hematoma requires examination by physician but to be on the safer side kindly consult with an Orthopedic Surgeon.
