What Causes A Hard Lump On The Left Side Of The Spine?

I have a large hard knot on the left hand side of my spine about middle ways. The pain goes from it straight down my left buttock and down my leg on my left side. It hurts so bad it is hard to lean back against anything can you give me any ideas what it might be ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to sciatica pain.
I suggest to do an x-ray of the column and a consult with a neurologist for further evaluation.
Meanwhile you can take painkillers such as Ibuprofen to relieve the pain.
You can also do gentle exercises.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
