What Causes A Large Bruise On The Left Breast?

Hi - I have a large bruise right below my left breast and a shooting pain and swelling all in my abdomen. The pain is moving into my left breast and I am seeing some discoloration occurring as well. I am very uncomfortable. I noticed it after moving a large mirror on Sunday and know that I hurt my back a little. I have a 8:00am doctor appointment but am wondering if I should go to urgent care or emergency room?

Hi,

There are many conditions in which we see bruising below breast and shooting pain in the abdomen. Most common causes of bruising are injury, hematoma, cellulitis. A common cause of shooting pain is inflammation.

By seeing your history, as you are not having any other symptom, the cause of your bruising is most probably due to the hematoma. Haematoma is nothing but leak of blood outside the vessel due injury to very minute arteries or capillaries. There are many internal causes for injury to blood vessel. Age can also be a factor. This injury will heal by itself.

For pain, you have to go for ultrasound scanning to rule out any surgical emergencies.

So no need to worry, but consult a doctor as soon as possible and go for necessary investigations. If you still feel any difficulty or observe any new symptom, you can contact us at any time.
