What Causes A Large Bruise With Blisters On The Lower Leg?

2 weeks ago I got a large bruise on my lower leg. Discoloration appeared at impact and over the next few days travelled toward my ankle. Now the discoloration is only at the place of original impact but there seems to be 2 or 3 small blisters on top. Should I be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Most likely hematoma with surrounding cellulitis changes and fluid collected blisters. Primary care as:
- Local care from cleaning it with sterile antiseptic solution.
- Foot elevation over 2-3 pillows.
- Avoid direct pressure bearing.
- Analgesic as Aleve or others for anti-inflammatory action.
- Need prescription of antibiotic as Cephalosporin group or else to avoid secondary bacterial infection and heal the issue faster.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
