What Causes A Large Lump On Back Of Neck And Swelling Of Lymph Nodes In Armpits?
My husband has a large, a little bigger then golf ball size, lump sitting on one of his vertabraes at the back of the base of his neck. It is going down but he says it happens whenever he is doing weights that require him to put the bar on his back. I did the same movement with less weights and didnt have this issue. It s been three days now and it has shrunk, but it s curious because his lymph nodes in his armpits are currently swollen, we think due to the injury in his roataor cuff which is being looked into right now, but could it be related and should we be concenred. It does hurt him when it is touched.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Lymph nodes in the armpit can occur due to infection or inflammation. A course of antibiotic should be taken followed by assessment of the nodes. If the nodes still persist then an aspiration cytology of the nodes can be done to find out the exact cause of lymph node enlargement. The lump on the base of neck could be due to soft tissue swelling. Increase in size of lump after lifting weights is suggestive of muscle related lump. However, a clinical assessment of the lump is required. An aspiration cytology of the lump may be required to know the nature and character of the lesion followed by its management.
