What Causes A Large Painful Lump At The Back Of The Shoulder?

I have a large lump on the back of my shoulder blade - both shoulder. One is extremely painful if pressing on it or moving the arm in a certain direction. This is on the left side. The right side lump; this is not as painful as the left side. I have multiple orthopedic problems from my C-1 down to the S-1, needing a second back fusion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It can be a lipoma, cyst, muscle knots, tumor (Pancoast) or a sarcoma. The pain is due to the nerves that the lump is pressing upon & inflammation. You are suggested to get clinically examined at the earliest. Get X-Ray, USG, CT, MRI, PET-CT done. You may have to get biopsy done also. Your treatment will depend on your clinical assessment & reports obtained.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
