Hi,

Based on your symptoms and history given, acanthosis nigricans is a likely diagnosis. Acanthosis nigricans presents as a thickened pigmented velvety skin lesion. It can be caused mainly due to insulin resistance and overweight.

Weight reduction, treatment of endocrinal abnormalities such as diabetes, hypothyroidism must be done. Prescription creams to lighten the skin or to soften thick and rough patches. Laser therapy to reverse skin thickening or lighten the skin and the use of topical antibiotics can reduce the lesions.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
