What Causes A Lump Above The Buttocks After An Injury?

Attempted to sit on a chair that wasn't there and bumped my lower back on a table edge on way down. Lower right side of back very sore and there's a lump sort of to the right and just above the crack in my buttock. Don't think anything is broken. Is this an inflamed or bruised muscle?

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

The symptoms you have mentioned suggestive of hematoma. It is nothing but a collection of blood under the subcutaneous tissue following blunt trauma. You don't need to worry regarding this as it will subside by it own even without treatment.
You can try the following measures to fasten the recovery:-
1. You can take simple analgesics like acetaminophen or ibuprofen in case of pain.
2.Apply ice packs over the affected area for reducing the size of the swelling.
3. Alternate warm and cold compress can also be tried.
Most cases will subside with in a week with supportive measures.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
