What Causes A Lump Along With Mild Pain In Lower Left Abdomen?

Hi. Am worried about hubby. He has had a dull, nagging pain in lower left abdomen for a couple of months now. Last week he said he could feel a small lump there that was painfull if he pushed on it. He only has a bowel movement around twice a week. (Has always been that way) Finally went to the docs on Friday. He has asked for 3 stool samples. (Which will likely take a while!) Have just taken first sample in this morning. Appetite is fine, and weight is steady. He is really worried it might be a cancer of some sort...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and thanks for writing.

First of all dont get panicked. yYour doctor is trying to rule out any cancer by doing the stool test.

You should not assume it to be cancer unless the test reports come. There are other causes too like a simple inguinal hernia too.

Be patient and let the tests happen.
