What Causes A Lump Around The Under Arm Towards My Spine?

I have another doctors appt scheduled Monday to follow up on my discomfort, which has been going on for 6 months now...persistent ache that under left scapula and wraps around under arm and towards my spine. I have been getting massages, and my therapist found a lump but reassured me it was a knot. My doctor concurred. It has been pretty persistent now, can t say it gets any worse. Not a sharp pain. A dull daily ache. I also have been experiencing tenderness in my kidney area, left side. I am able to void as usual and it is not discolored. I am just having a little anxiety not being able to get this remedied and am spending way too much time online self diagnosing...it s starting to freak me out. Thanks for your time. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You have a rare sort of symptom that the pain is going from under scapula to underarm and to back, the massage therapist says this to be a knot although there is a lump.
I would advise you the following.
Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon for clinical evaluation.
Insist for MRI of the affected area as this can show whether there is a lump or not.
If the lump is present then you may need a surgery to remove it as this would be causing the nerve compression and thus a atypical pain.
Till then give rest to the same sided upper limb by putting the forearm into a sling to avoid repeated stress syndrome.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
