Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Lump At The Front Of The Arm Next To Armpit In A Toddler?
My toddler has a lump at the front of his arm next to his armpit. An ulstrasound was done and a Paed saw him in October last year and the conclusion was that it was probably a haemangioma under the skin as it was previously the site of what was thought to be a small strawberry naevus. The Paed advised it would probably disappear on its own but if it grew to contact him for urgent surgical review. Since before Christmas it has gone from the size of a large pea to the size of a large grape. He has been back to the Paed who has referred us to a surgeon. My question is, should I take my son to the hospital immediately and ask them to look at it or should I wait for the surgeon to get down to me on his waiting list - they cannot tell me how long till they will even contact me to make an appointment, let alone the appointment itself. Obviously I am worried that waiting on this could be a bad idea.

Hi, You should take your son immediately to the hospital and get him checked. You should not wait when you know that the chance of appointment is minimum. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Yasam Lavanya, General & Family Physician
