What Causes A Lump Below The Knee After An Injury?
I hit my leg below the knee on a glass coffee table about 10 days ago. I have a bruise that is going away but I noticed today that there is a small lump or nodule in that area. Is this something I should get checked out? I don t ever recall having a lump associated with a bruise.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The swelling you had after few days of the hit on knee joint can be:
- A small incomplete fracture
- bursitis
- inflammation of bursa around joints
- swelling of tendon of adjacent muscle
- Blood capillary oozing due to hit
- joint swelling due to trauma
If not painful, would go on it's own with home care. If it is causing pain on movements it needs treatment with medication. Please consult your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale,
