What Causes A Lump In Throat Feeling Along With Pain In Upper Back?
I have a feeling that something is pushing up in my throat. A lump. belching and pain in my upper back toward the shoulder. This has been going on for a while now, but it got very bad last week. My doctor put me on Achiphex but it makes the pushing up even more noticeable it seems. I feel a bit like I can t get my breath well either. I know that it is not normal.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
I feel it's due to your digestive problems like indigestion or excessive gases pushing up on diaphragm, thus causing referred pain in shoulder and pushing up in throat is indicating nausea. You should eat light diet (boiled rice) in small quantities 2-4 times a day with liquid (like light tea, coffee, lemon water, butter milk).
Take cleared butter with hot water at bed time ,in case you have constipation. I were to treat, I would check for ant bowel infection or infestation and treat the cause. For improving digestion Syrup Vitazyme over the counter would help. Consultation of a gastroenterology can be added.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
