What Causes A Lump On Right Side Of Neck, jaw And Numbness Of Face?

This morning I woke up with a lump on the right side of my neck, just below my jaw. It is very tender and painful and is causing radiating pain/ slight numbness up the side of my face. I also have had a headache for several hours. Is this something to worry about ? I have an appointment tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. but have heard horror stories about meningitis and am quite worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

I share your concerns about meningitis, but in my opinion it is either lymph nodes enlargement or infected submandibular salivary gland, because location you have mentioned can have these conditions only.

In my opinion your headache is also related to the general illness you have because of this swelling. You can meet your doctor as per appointment. However if your headache worsens, you develop neck stiffness, disturbance in senses , rush to emergency department immediately.

I hope my reply will help you. Please write to hcm or me for more queries. I wish you good health and rapid recovery. Kindly rate this reply. Thanks
