What Causes A Lump On The Back Of The Neck Hairline?

I found a small bump behind the lobe of my left ear I have had irregular menstural cycles for quite a whIle now Had a pap smear done to find the underlying cause, everything came back normal. My doctor however said she didn t think it would be anything wih my thyroid causing this, but could test me for it. So could this small little bump be something related to my thyroid?

Hello,

Very likely the tinny bump behind your ear, at the hairline, is a lymph node and in a few cases, it may be a dermoid cyst. As long as it does not change or you do not have other symptoms or complaints with it, there is nothing to worry about it but just keep an eye on it and let your doctor know for any changes.

It is always good to check your thyroid to make sure it is normal, I do not think the lump is related to the thyroid though.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
