Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I have a lump that appeared on the back right side of my head that hurts another but never hit it on anything. I was worried it was something to do with my hair but when I pulled out a strand it had this white stuff on it with blood. Please help as I am also getting headaches on the right side of my head.
You have a bump on the back of your head (on the right side). The hair strand you pulled shows whitish stuff with blood on it. It is indicative of pus and infection. Lump on the back of the head is commonly caused due to injury, lipoma, folliculitis, pilar cyst, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP. Pilar cysts need surgical removal. Warm compress and antibiotics help get rid of folliculitis. Lipoma does not need any treatment but if it causes symptoms, it can be surgically removed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
