Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I Have a knot on the bottom of my left foot...on the bottom next to my arch. It goes up & down in size. Lately it has been very painful. Last night, I noticed my foot was acually kind of numb. I was told it is some kind of tumor. I haven t mentioned it to my doctor yet but I think I better do something. I cant be up on my feet for more than 4-5 hours at a time, especially with shoes on. If I am, I really have a lot of pain. I am 49 years old. I know this knot has been there for quite a while I just keep ignoring it, until now. What can this be? And is it serious enough that I shouldn t ignore it anymore?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The problem you describe seems to be planter fibroma. You need to use specified shoed to avoid pressure on the mass. Take pain medicine over the counter as per need. Long standing pain and decreased working capacity needs surgical intervention please consult a surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
