What Causes A Lump On The Chest Which Is Neither Malignant Nor Infected?

I am 42 years old female. I have swollen lump (sized 40x28x25 mm) on my right chest. One month before, suddenly I had severe pain there, and on my right shoulder blade, it also made me feel very weak, it lasted for about 5 days and gradually the pain stopped without any medication. I still have the lump there. I went through CT, which said that I have chest wall tumor. And the pet CT said that it may be Tuberculosis, since I had the history of tuberculosis when I was 15 years old.The doctors did core needle biopsy, but the biopsy result did not detect Tuberculosis, or infection or cancer. I am living a normal life, except that I wonder what is the swollen lump in my chest. Any leads please...

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be benign (non-cancerous) bony swelling.

Nothing much to worry and no definite treatment is required either.

If size increases you can opt for an excision biopsy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
