What Causes A Lump On The Eyebrow With Bruising After A Fall?
Hi, I am 69 and had a fall on ceramic tiles 2 weeks ago which resulted in a huge black eye and a lump on my eyebrow about the size of a gold ball I have seen my doctor and had a CT scan which came back normal. The bruising from my eye has moved down the side o my face and under my chin but the lump is still there and seems to be full of blood. Will it ever go down or can it be drained. I would appreciate your help. Thank you Dell
It will go down though in some cases a residual lump , made out of scar tissue remains. The time frame can vary according to the severity of the trauma and bruising/lesions that occurred. Even if there is no pain at the moment the use of anti inflammatory pain medication, if you can use these meds, would help.
The lump is part of the body's inflammatory response and using one of these meds should help reduce this response and speed up healing eg naproxen, cataflam, voltaren, ibuprofen. A warm compress to the area applied 2 to 3 times daily may also help it to disperse. This should be done for 15 to 20 mins.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
