What Causes A Lump On The Toe After An Injury?

A couple of weeks ago, I injured my big toe at work. I went to the er, they took x-rays and told me i had a contusion. By the way, a 3 pound cutting board fell off a shelf about four feet high onto my toe. I don t have any issues walking really, maybe a different gait now, but what is bothering me is the fact that there is a lump on my toe where the cutting board hit. The bruising went away really quick and I can t stand to have my toe touched. That hurts. Could the drs. have missed a broken toe and now it isn t healing right?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If there is still pain and swelling after passing a few weeks.

I think we need to reassess it again. This may not necessarily mean a fracture but possibility there. We should also see for other complications like an infection in that area.

So you probably would need a visit to reassessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
