Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom just fell off her sofa onto the floor in her nursing home. Carpeted floor. Short distance. She is 87 but big strong boned. No osteoporosis. There is a lump on her wrist from fall. Wrist is sore but she can move her fingers fine. Ok to wait till am to take her to her reg physician or need to go to ER?
Swelling may be due to the trauma alone or there may be underlying fracture. If she is moving her fingers and wrist easily then most probably it is due to injury alone. She can take analgesics for pain. But if symptoms persists, it's better to take her to ER and have x-ray done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Gauraw Kumar
