What Causes A Lump Underneath The Skin Of Thigh?

I noticed a lump underneath the skin on the back of my thigh the other night. At the time, there was a dime-sized, bluish-black bruise. Two days later, the bruise is a little smaller than a tennis ball. It s unlikely I could have run into something given the location. What could cause this?

Hello and thanks for your question. Occasionally a small blood vessel will break in the skin causing some bleeding under the skin. This is not concerning unless it is happening frequently. I suggest treating it like a bruise but see your doctor if it happens frequently.
