What Causes A Lump With White Discharge Close To Nipples In Men?
I am a sixty five year old male and about three weeks ago I noticed an under the skin lump about the size of a dime just above the nipple and it was very tender somewhat like a pimple and had a thick whitish discharge but it has subsided considerably and I don t think there is any discharge. Because it is mostly gone should I be concerned or not? My mother and both my sisters had breast cancer.
Breast cancer is very rare in men. But since your mother and both sisters have breast cancer, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP.
Get a clinical examination of your brests done. An X-Ray breast, a mamogram/USG & biopsy done to stay on the safer side. To confirm the stage of the cancer CT or PET is done. Treatment (hormone therapy, chemotherapy or surgery) will depend on the clinical condition & report of the investigations done.
Such symptoms in men may be due to hormonal imbalance, duct ectasia, breast tumor or rarely breast cancer.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
