My mom was told she has a mass that is cancer as result if an MRI today. What types of cancer could this be? She had her right ovarie removed 50 years ago the mass they detected is in the same area. She has had diarrhea for months and put off going to the doctor. I m trying to narrow down what type of cancer we are looking at.
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
It is not easy to determine the exact type of tumor based only on MRI scan and it would be good to know colonoscopy and gastroscopy findings. However, if there this tumor isnt attached to specific organ or bowels then it is most likely to be retroperitoneal sarcoma or mezenhimal intraabdominal tumors. If ovarian and uterus are removed then this cant be of gynecologic origing. But, it should not change therapy approach. In her case it is necessary to have surgery since there is no other option to treat abdominal tumors and get exact diagnosis.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
