What Causes A Mild, Persistent Tremor In The Thumb Of The Left Hand?

Hello,I have a small but persistent tremor in the palm of my left hand, running from the pad below my thumb to midway up my thumb. I used to happen only occasionally, but it s been consistent for the last 2-3 weeks. Probably not a big deal but just wonder how long I should wait before getting it checked out if it doesn t go away. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Occasional thumb tremor may be non-specific or particularly following some postural compression over the wrist joint.

If persistent, one may suspect nerve compression at carpel tunnel or other issues.

It is recommended to consult an expert neuro physician rather than remaining in any doubt.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
