Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started taking metformin last month due to PCOS. My periods are usually very regular however this month and is about 9 days late I have taken two at home pregnancy test that were both negative could the metformin be causing my period to be late or be causing a false negative on a pregnancy test?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, treatment of PCOS may not cause amenorrhea, particularly metformin, if pregnancy is suspected then this could be ruled out with ultrasonography, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
