What Causes A Nodule In The Forehead Swelling After A Head Injury?
My Mother-in-law had met with an accident and there was a gash on her forehead, which was treated with 12 stitches . After the accident there was a slight swelling on her forehead. The CT scan showed that no clot or any serious has happened to her skull. The doc said that the swelling would go after a few weks, if not he would insert a needle and remove the clooted blood. Today he said that he found a nodule in the swelling. Want to know if it is serious kind of tumour
I can understand your concern. There is no need to worry. The nodule will be most likely collected blood or sometimes infected blood forming pus. It can never be tumor as head injury does not cause tumor formation.
To confirm further, you can ask your doctor for aspiration of nodule. The aspirate will confirm the diagnosis and remove the swelling. If pus is present, she will need antibiotic course like coamoxyclav for 7 days, anti-inflammatory medication like diclofenac with serratiopeptidase after proper prescription. If blood, only anti-inflammatory medication will be needed. You can also apply icepacks to reduce swelling faster.
If still no relief, a CT scan will help to know the actual nature of swelling. Hope it will help you. If still in doubt, do let me know. Thanks. Take care.
