Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Nodule On The Lower Right Lung With History Of TB?
Recently I had a c t scan and they found a nodule on my lower right lung.I was treated for t b as a child in the 60s.Could this nodule be the result of the t b from my past or should I be more concerned .I have trouble breathing at times shortness of breath and a cough that will not leave me alone.I am scheduled for a chest x ray next month.I never smoked anything ever.
As per my clinical experience, the nodule in lower lobe of right lung with past history of tuberculosis can be reactivation of previous tuberculosis or secondary to other bacterial superimposed infection through compromised immunity status. Kindly provide me details of lab reports with ESR, chest X-ray and then I can guide in further corelation of the issue. Many of the times, diagnostic bronchoscopy with or without biopsy of the nodule is final step in such cases.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
