What Causes A Painful Bump Above The Rectum?

I have a bump between my anus above the hole. I ve had that there for 3-4 years it never bothered me so I never paid much attention to it, but then one day it got really swollen and painful it last for a day then it went back to its normal size. A year later it got swollen again this time it last for 3 days. The bump is pinkish (skin color) its not like how others said that their own was purple or black. I ve been recently sexually active for 5 months. I doubt that will be the cause of the problem but I have to be sure.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It sounds like pilonidal cyst disease. A definitive cure is surgical incision and drainage.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
