What Causes A Painful Bump On The Heel?

my achilles tendon has a bump protruding about 1/2 inch from my heel, and has been acute pain for over a month. I am on Celebrex and have rested my foot over 12 days and iced everyday and stretched everyday. I bike ride without pain, but Pickleball aggravates the area. What would you suggest?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful bump on the heel . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like peripheral neuropathy , injury , gout , corns and callus , soft tissue injury or venous insufficiency .

I would suggest you to consult podiatrist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or x-ray along with blood test and urine test and physical examination to confirm the diagnosis .

Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon for foot problem , who may prescribe diuretic along with muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory .For now keep your legs in hot water tub with Epsom salt for 15 minutes daily and take proper rest . Doctor may also recommend surgical removal of corn and callus.

Doctor may recommend orthotic devices like special shoe . You should reduce your weight by doing light exercises like yoga and altering your diet . Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
