What Causes A Painful Bump On The Side Of The Stomach?

Hi I m a 64 year old woman in good health. My GP just retired and no replacement available yet. I have a small lump on the side of my stomach. It appears to be bruised but I don t recall anything happening to bruise there. It is not painful but is somewhat tender to touch. Just wondering if I need to visit Walk In Clinic or Hospital to have it looked at.Carol La Croix

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lump in stomach CAN be caused due to hematoma. This is a condition where there is accumulation of blood under the skin. This blood seeps from the surrounding broken blood vessels. Injuries are the most common cause of a hematoma. I sugegst to do an ultrasound if the lump continue for further evalaution.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
