What Causes A Painful Hard Lump On The Inner Thigh Near Groin Area?

I have a hard, large, movable lump under the skin on my inner thigh close to my bikini area. There is no whitehead on it, hurts to touch, no skin discoloration. I d say it s the size of a quarter and feels as though it goes pretty deep under the skin. What is it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to hernia. If you send a picture of it then it will be more helpful to identify. If it is in inguinal canal then it can be inguinal hernia. If below that then it can be femoral hernia. A physical examination with a general surgeon will help to rule out this. If it is causing discomfort or pain or not reducible then surgical correction should be considered.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
