What Causes A Painful Lump At The Back Of The Head?
I have a painful lump on the back of my head- it just appeared this afternoon- no trauma. It s about a quarter in size maybe 1-2 inches from my left ear. It hurts so bad I can t sleep. Is this cause fir concern? It just appeared out of no where about 10 hours ago. Thank you
I can understand your concern. It seems that you are having bacterial infection in the left ear and due to that, the lymph node on that side has been swollen.
I would advise you to start antibiotics. You should take Cefixime 200 mg (Topcef) twice a day for 5 days. For relief in pain, you can take OTC available analgesics such as Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg up to three times in a day.
The swelling should reduce or disappear along with pain by the time the 5 day course ends. However, if you do not find any relief, I would advise you to visit an ENT specialist or physician for the clinical examination and further investigations.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
