Hello,

Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns.

From what you have mentioned it looks like you have an inflamed internal haemorrhoid. Haemorroids, commonly known as Piles, are soft cushion like swellings present in the lower end of the anal canal. They are filled with blood. These are internal haemorrhoids.

If they become inflamed they can bulge outside the anus and can cause pain, this pain is experienced when the patient sits, coughs and also when the patient opens his bowels to pass stool out. Sometimes, the patient can also notice bleeding from his anus when he opens his bowels especially if he is constipated. This is because the hard stool and the straining to opens the bowels, causes small lacerations/cuts on the delicate lining of the haemorrhoid causing it to bleed.

Management:

You did the right management- an ice pack can help to relieve the pain.
1) You can use either Anovate or Proctosedyl cream. Apply the cream twice a day on the haemorrhoid, after opening the bowels. Use the cream for a week and see.
2) You can also use Ibuprofen 200-400 mg 2-3 times/day to relieve the pain and inflammation ( provided you are not allergic to Ibuprofen). Take the Ibuprofen with food, if taken on empty stomach it can cause gastritis.

Despite doing the above for 1 week if you swelling still does not reduce or if the symptoms worsen, see your doctor.

I hope this answer has helped you.
