Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Painful Lump On Back And A Small Pimple Next To That?
About three days ago, I developed a painful lump on my back, about right inches done from my shoulder and about three inches to the left of my spine. It just looks like a bump about the size of a half dollar, red, and it is painful. Looks like there is a small pimple to the immediate right (can see a small pus top--like a pimple) but have no clue if the two are connected.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
A painful lump on the back, especially if it is red and inflamed, maybe a sign of a skin infection or abscess. The small pimple next to it could be a separate issue or it may be related to the infection. It is important to have it evaluated by a healthcare provider to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
In some cases, antibiotics may be necessary to clear up the infection, and in more severe cases, drainage of the abscess may be required. It is also important to avoid squeezing or trying to pop the pimple or lump, as this can worsen the infection and lead to further complications.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
