What Causes A Painful Lump On The Finger Joint?

I have pain between my first and second knuckle on my right had. I an right handed. There is a small lump in the area on the back of the hand, right below the knuckles if I were to hold my hand up, towards the wrist. I notice more pain after repetitive movement like practicing shooting or when I pick up something heavy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The lump on the finger joint is commonly related to osteoarthritis.

I suggest doing some examinations such as blood tests, ESR level, rheumatoid factor level.

Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen for the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
