What Causes A Painful Lump On The Shin Due To An Injury?

hey so I was playing hockey today and I got tripped. I was skating really fast and when I fell my shin went directly into the post of the net. I was going so fast I took the entire net off. I don t think I ve ever felt that much pain and I have a huge goose egg on my shin that is bigger than my knee cap. what should I do

take xray to rule out fracture. apply cold compression keep it under observation , apply crepe bandage.take rest till it normalises. can take tab hifenac p daily for 5days.
