It is possible that the painful lump on your left wrist could be a
cyst or a
lipoma that is pushing on a vein. However, given your history of
arthritis and Dupuytren's in the hand, it is also possible that the lump could be related to these conditions. Arthritis can cause inflammation and swelling in the joints, while Dupuytren's contracture can cause thickening of the tissue in the palm and fingers, which can sometimes lead to lumps or nodules.
It is important to have the lump evaluated by a medical professional, who can examine it and order any necessary tests (such as an
ultrasound or MRI) to determine the cause of the lump. Depending on the underlying cause, treatment may include medication to reduce inflammation and pain,
drainage or removal of the cyst or lipoma, or surgery to correct the Dupuytren's contracture.
