What Causes A Painful Open Wound Between The Toes In A Diabetic?
my mother, 86, diabetic, has a small opening between hear small toe & the one next to it. She has been her her MD and he prescribed lamasil both cream & 10 days of pills. She complains of pain above the toe on both the bottom & top of her foot. She says it is very painful.
it is looks like your mother is suffering from an infection. as she is diabetic most probably initialiy a fungus and later a secondary bacteia may caused this infection between toes. as you are telling there is an opening between toes most probably infection has spread to deep tissues. as she is having continous pain there may be a pus collection inside her foot. may need to incision and drainge pus. may need give antibiotics injections too. so better to consult a specialized surgeon and show her.
