General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If it is itchy then it is a fungal infection and needs antifungal as itraconazole.

If it is not itchy then it may be bacterial or herpes infection.

If there are painful red nodules then it is herpes and needs antiviral as acyclovir or ganciclovir.

If there is a reddish patch, then it is a bacterial infection and needs azithromycin. Also, see that your husband does not have similar lesions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
