HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Based on the symptoms mentioned, you likely have
soft tissue injury to the muscles or ligaments in the ankle or/and leg.
If you have a history of severe trauma, however, a
fracture needs to be ruled out by an
x ray.
Treatment of soft tissue injuries involve the acronym PRICE MM: (1) protect the area from further injury
(2)rest- optimally, you need to be off the affected leg for at least a few days to allow it to heal.
One day is not likely to be enough
(3)icing as yo have been doing, this can be done 2 to 4 times a day
(4)compression bandage to the affected area to reduce the swelling
(5)elevation
(6)medication- you may need to increase the
ibuprofen. The maximum dose of ibuprofen that can be used in a day for acute pain is 3200mg.
This would be 800mg strength , 4 times a day.
Should be used with meals
The other M stands for modalities such as
physiotherapy.
I hope this helps
