Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A sudden lump just appeared on my 10 year old son forehead. He said that he did not bump it and he doesn t remember being bitten by anything. He said that the lump does not hurt. Should I take him to the ER? Have you heard of this before? Please help.
I share your concerns about your child. Absence of any injury and sudden appearance of lump is very difficult to believe. Kid might be hiding. Morever suddenly appearing swelling are painful.
However if you are sure of no injury and swelling has appeared in very short time, it could be some cyst, which was there for long, but in small size (may have gone unnoticed). There can be bleeding in the cyst now, which may have made it bigger. It could be dermoid cyst or sebaceous cyst or a lipid cyst.
I would advise you to visit a surgeon and get it examined by him. A short simple surgery may be required to remove it.
I hope my reply will help you. Please write to us for more questions. I wish good health toyour kid. Kindlyrate tthireplyepThanks
