What Causes A Painless Spot Inside The Eye Ball?

Within the last 2-3 months a stationary spot has developed in the visual field of my left eye. No other changes in vision. No sensations. No trauma. NOT a floater. It stays in the same position relative to my eyeball. When the eyeball moves, it moves with it, like a spot you would draw on a ball.Is this just one of those things , or is it worth the doctor s and my time to make appt?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
The stationary spot in the visual filed of the eye needs to be investigated.
A fixed spot in visual field can be due to degenerative change in the retina and can be irreversible.
I suggest you to consult an ophthalmologist at the earliest to examine the eye especially the posterior aspect of the eye - retina.
Floaters in eye are usually caused by degeneration of vitreous humor which move with movement of eye.
However, fixed nature of the spot rules out the possibility of floater.
Thus, any degeneration in retina needs to be ruled out.

Thanks and take care
