What Causes A Pale Area Of Skin On The Penis Shaft?
I have a circular/oval area of discolored skin on the shaft of my penis, near the base. It started as a smaller circular area that looked very much like ringworm, it is much larger. The area of skin is paler than the rest of my penis and it seems to have some red/scaling around the edge of the discolored at this is like a red ring.some time it is itching also
Based on your description, it does sound like a ring worm (fungal infection) that is worsening. Fungal infections can spread to involve a wider area, they would also fit the description given- scaly edge, redness, itching. Treatment is with a topical antifungal agent, that is econazole, miconazole, nystatin, ketoconazole, clotrimazoleOne of these should be available over the counter but if this is not the case, You would need a prescription from your doctor.
I hope this helps. Let me know if i can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
