Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my roommate seems to have Histrionic personality disorder, though i am not 100% sure it's bothering me. he tends to copy what i say and what i do in almost every aspect of regular living, and because of this i distanced myself from him, which resulted for my roommate to cling onto my other roommate but he still seems to do what i do, it's almost as if he has no mind of his own
From the description of your friend's behavior, it appears that he could be having a Dependent Personality Disorder. Persons with this personality disorder are excessively dependent and clingly on another person. They often revolve their activities around the person they are dependent on and they become very anxious and uncomfortable in the absence of that person.
Personality disorders are generally difficult to treat and unfortunately, persons with personality disorders often find it difficult to cope up with social demands. The only available treatment is psychotherapy or counselling but this is often a long term process.
