What Causes A Portion Of Protruding Bowel In A Child?
My Neice was born about 3 1/2 weeks ago.She needed surgery for a small portion of a protuding bowel. this was rectified without issue. Her Mother was quite preeclamptic and on mag sulph for about a week. Is this normal for a new born? Some sort of hormone overload. She was 7.5 when she was born.
Protrusion of bowels from the abdominal wall at birth is caused due to incomplete rotation of bowels during gestation. While in the Mother's womb, the bowel of the foetus undergoes rotation to attain it's final position near birth. This corresponds with the closure of abdominal wall. When the rotation is incomplete due to various reasons, such defects can arise and can be a varying degrees.
If appropriately repaired at birth, there are no residual complications and the child leads a healthy life.
thanks for the consultation, The exact cause of protruding bowel from the umbilicus is not known.there is some weakness at the bellybutton site.then through this hole intestine protrudes out. This condition is call omphalocele/gastrochisis.This is birth defect and is closed just after birth. The baby needs full evaluation to check other body system specially .ECHO of the heart. this condition is not related with harmone or drug overload.
