What Causes A Prominent Hard Painful Lump On The Palm?

I have had what I thought was a vein in my palm that was about the size of a flatten pea for several years. It never cause me any trouble until about a week ago when it became painful and harder. Shaking hands, changing gears, etc - hurts - not too bad but enough to try to avoid actions that might hurt. I thought it might be a varicose vein but also thought it might be a ganglion cyst. My father and grandfather both had ganglion cysts on their forearms

Hi,

Ganglionic cyst seems more likely however should be review to look for any signs of ore malignant lesion and a dermatologist consultation or a surgeon review seems more appropriate. Ultrasound of lesion or fine needle aspiration cytology may be done to look for nature of lesion. Surgical excision seems more appropriate.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
