Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Protruding, Bruised Area On Thigh Post An Injury?
I m 66 yrs old female and I fell in my bathroom and my upper thigh hit the bathtub. I have an area as large as my stretched hand sticking out of my outside thigh. It s the size of a half of a canto lope. Yesterday afternoon after I had fallen this area was as large as an inflated balloon. I kept ice on it and it has reduced to the size it is now. There is a bruise on the top. It is rounded as well. Should I be concerned?
I think this is hematoma caused by the injury you had. I can suggest you do an x-ray of the thigh where the injury happened to check for a possible fracture. You can continue to use ice over it and also put ice over it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
