What Causes A Purple Bruise On The Buttock?

Almost 10 months ago, I hit my left buttock quite hard on the end of a table. It left a big black and purple bruise, which took a month to fade away. The center of the bruise began to indent as the bruise faded. That indentation has remained and now I have an indented line growing from my buttock forward toward my groin. I don t understand why it keeps growing. What might be happening and what can I do to prevent it from growing more?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to trauma.

I recommend doing a complete blood count for further evaluation.

Meanwhile, I suggest you to use Tylenol in case of pain.

I also recommend using a cold compress such as an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas to the affected area for 20 minutes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
